This is my little secret for making sure my husband’s always in a great mood

Baked Apple Fritters
Servings: 8

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup whole milk
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
2 tablespoons melted butter
Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 tablespoons milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
3. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
4. Gently fold in the diced apples and melted butter until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping them into small mounds.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the fritters are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. While the fritters are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
8. Once the fritters are baked, allow them to cool for about 5 minutes before drizzling the glaze over them. Serve warm and enjoy the homey goodness.

Variations & Tips

Feel free to experiment with different types of apples or even pears for a unique twist. Adding a handful of chopped nuts, such as pecans or walnuts, can give a pleasant crunch. For a more decadent dessert, caramel sauce instead of the glaze can be a delightful indulgence. And if you prefer a more robust flavor, a pinch of nutmeg or allspice can be added to the batter.
