Swiss and Ham Sliders

Step 1- Slice and toast rolls.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray a 9″ x 13″ pan with cooking spray.

Cut the Hawaiian rolls horizontally through the center to make a top piece and a bottom piece. Set the tops aside, then place the bottoms in the baking pan and bake uncovered for 5 minutes.

Step 2- Make the honey mustard sauce.

Whisk together the mustard and honey in a small bowl. Spread it in an even layer on the toasted bottom buns.

Step 3- Assemble the sliders.

Now top the bottom buns with ham and cheese.

Step 4- Top the sliders

Whisk together melted butter, onion powder and poppy seeds. Place the top buns on the sliders. Brush the butter mixture onto the tops of all the slider buns.

Step 5- Bake and serve.

Return the pan to the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, until the tops are golden and the cheese is melted. Serve immediately.

Tips For Making Baked Ham And Cheese Sliders

  • Try to keep the Hawaiian roll tops and bottoms in one piece when you cut them in half. I use a really sharp serrated knife (a bread knife works too) and slowly cut through the middle, making sure to keep an eye on both sides so as not to thin out the tops or bottoms too much.
  • Bake the bottom buns for a few minutes so the honey mustard sauce doesn’t make the bottom buns soggy.
  • I gave a range of amounts for the ham and cheese slices because each brand is a little different in terms of size. Definitely add more or less based on your preference.
  • Don’t skip the butter step for the top buns, trust me!
  • If you want extra honey mustard sauce for dipping, double the ingredients.
  • Ingredients to prep ahead- you can slice the buns in half and whisk together the honey mustard sauce ahead of time.
  • Leftovers and storage- These will last for 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best results.
