Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese

To start making this recipe, brown one pound of ground beef and a chopped onion in a skillet or on the griddle over medium high heat.

Next, season the ground beef with salt, pepper, paprika, and onion powder.

Seasoned Ground Beef

Once the ground beef is fully cooked drain any extra grease. Add minced garlic, Worcestershire, tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, and BBQ sauce. Stir well.

My family isn’t a huge fan of the canned Manwich, but if you like it you could use that instead of the tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.

Sloppy Joe Mixture

Let the Sloppy Joe mixture simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes. Spread a little bit of butter or mayo on the insides of the buns to toast them.

Toast the buns over medium heat until golden brown. To get the grilled cheese aspect build the sloppy joes with the toasted side of the buns out.

Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese

Add American cheese to the bottom bun, top with a scoop of the sloppy Joe mix, and add one more piece of cheese on top. Place the top bun on with the toasted side out.

Serve Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese

Once the buns are toasted and the cheese is nice and melted, it’s time to eat! I served these with some tater tots and some canned green beans.
