Quick and Easy Cheddar Bay Biscuits
Servings: 12 biscuits
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3/4 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon dried parsley.
Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt.
3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry cutter or two knives until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it’s evenly distributed.
5. Pour in the milk and mix gently with a fork until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
6. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough onto the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
8. While the biscuits are baking, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and mix in the dried parsley.
9. As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush the tops with the butter mixture.
10. Serve warm and enjoy.
Variations & Tips
If you’re feeling adventurous, add a teaspoon of dried dill or chives into the dough for a fresh, herbaceous twist. For a touch of heat, sprinkle in a pinch of cayenne pepper. You can also substitute the cheddar with other sharp cheeses like Gruyère or a smoky gouda. If you’re short on time, a biscuit mix can be used as the base, and just add the cheese and garlic powder to make it your own.
