Step 1 Choose a Suitable Cutting The first step in growing a mango tree from a cutting in water is to choose a suitable cutting. Ideally, you should take a cutting from a healthy mango tree. Make sure the cutting is at least a few centimeters long and comes from a healthy, vigorous branch. 2nd step Prepare the Cutting Once you have your cutting, carefully remove the bottom leaves to expose some of the stem.
You can use a clean knife to do this. Make sure the cutting is clean and free of any leaf or branch residue. Step 3 Prepare a Container of Water Choose a clear, shallow container, such as a glass or glass jar. Fill the container with water until it is almost full, leaving enough room for the cutting without touching the bottom. The water should be at room temperature. Step 4 Place the Cutting in the Water Dip the prepared cutting into the container of water. Make sure the bare portion of the cutting is completely submerged, while the leaves remain above the water. You can support the cutting by placing a piece of foil around the container and inserting the cutting into a small hole.
Step 5 Change the Water Regularly To encourage root growth, it is important to change the water every few days. Cool water helps prevent the formation of algae and bacteria that could hinder root growth. Step 6 Wait and Be Patient Root growth can take several weeks or even months. Be patient and check the condition of your cuttings regularly. You will know roots have developed when you see small white roots emerging from the cutting. Step 7 Transplant into a Pot Once the roots are well developed, it is time to transplant the cutting into a pot filled with light, well-draining soil. Be careful not to damage the roots when transplanting. Place the pot in a sunny location.
Step 8 Take Care of Your Mango Plant To ensure the continued growth of your mango plant, be sure to water it regularly, fertilize it as needed and provide it with good lighting. Mango trees love warmth and sunlight, so be sure to provide them with these conditions.
