1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
Whole cloves (optional, for garnish)
Pineapple slices and maraschino cherries (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
Prepare the Glaze: In a saucepan, combine the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, orange juice, apple cider vinegar, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the glaze slightly thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
Prepare the Ham: Place the ham, cut side down, in a large roasting pan or baking dish. If desired, score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern with a sharp knife and insert whole cloves into the center of each diamond for added flavor and decoration.
Glaze the Ham: Pour half of the glaze over the ham, using a brush or spoon to evenly coat the surface. Reserve the remaining glaze for basting later.
Bake the Ham: Place the ham in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C) when measured with a meat thermometer, and the surface is caramelized and golden brown. Baste the ham with the reserved glaze every 30 minutes during the cooking process to keep it moist and flavorful.
Garnish and Serve: Once the ham is fully cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for about 10-15 minutes before carving. If desired, garnish the ham with pineapple slices and maraschino cherries for a classic presentation.
