Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the milk, stirring until the dough comes together. It should be slightly sticky but manageable.
Shape the Dough Bites:
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it a few times until it becomes smooth.
Roll the dough into small balls, about the size of a walnut.
Heat the Oil:
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Make sure there’s enough oil to submerge the dough bites.
Fry the Dough Bites:
Carefully drop a few dough balls into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried dough bites from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
In a shallow bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
While the dough bites are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until they are well coated.
Serve:
Serve the cinnamon sugar-coated fried dough bites warm. They are perfect for a sweet snack or dessert.
Enjoy your delicious cinnamon sugar-coated fried dough bites!
