We love an old-fashioned recipe and this pie crust is no exception. It’s easy to make. Once baked, the crust is a beautiful golden brown, and light and flaky. This makes the perfect base for any pie.

Ingredients For 100 year old pie crust recipe – dee dee’s
4 c all-purpose flour
1 3/4 c shortening (lard would have been used back in the day)
3 Tbsp sugar (if making a savory pie, use less)
2 tsp salt
1 egg
1/2 c ice water.

How To Make 100 year old pie crust recipe – dee dee’s

All-purpose flour, shortening, sugar, and salt blended with a pastry cutter.
1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, shortening, sugar, and salt. Blend together with a pastry cutter until crumbly.

Pouring egg, mixed with water, into flour.
2.In a small bowl, mix the egg with the water. Blend into the flour mixture.

Dough formed into two pieces and wrapped with plastic wrap.
3.Cover tightly with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator until ready to use. NOTE: I form a balls and then pat them into a disk shape and wrap in plastic wrap.
